Geocaching

Here at the library we're all about helping you find stuff.

However, for this one thing, you're all on your own.

Geocaching is best described as a cross between hide'n'seek and a treasure hunt. Armed with a GPS device (like a iPhone), a pencil, a coordinate and a sense of adventure, geocachers roam the world looking for little stashes or "geocaches" that others have hidden.

Sometimes it's little more than a tupperware container and a logbook. Other times it's a locker with little treasures to swap. They could be buried underground, or hidden up in a tree.

Your job is to find it and leave your mark (thus the pencil).

There are dozens of geocaches located all around Rockingham. If you're feeling lucky, give it a go.

Leave a comment here if you find one.

Wanna know more about geocaching? Check out Geocache on Wikipedia, Geocaching Australia, or the site that started it all, Geocaching.

Finally, please respect all found geocaches and leave them in good condition. Also, respect the surrounding environment. It's considered good form for geocachers to remove any litter they find in the area.
